Your first project (part 1)
So let's get a project created! Go ahead and login to your Control Center. You will be greeted with a Dashboard screen, showing some stats regarding your planroom usage. On the left is the main menu, where you access the Control Center modules.
Let's start by clicking on "Projects." This will show you a list of any projects currently in your planroom. Here you can add/edit/delete projects, generate a quick report, search for a project, or filter by Virtual Planroom.
To create a new project, click "New Project" at the top right. This will open up the New Project wizard where you can enter the basic project information.
For this first section, only the Project Name is required. You can enter a short description or location if available, or you can fill this in later.
The second section asks about the project customer. Click on the company field to select a company in your database. If the company doesn't exist yet, there is a button to create a "New Company" at the bottom.
You can optionally add a name and phone.
The third section is for the project bid dates. Both are optional, you can add them later if needed.
The fourth section is where you specify how users should be able to access your project. If you leave this "Public" any planroom user will be able to see and access the project, and view drawings.
If you make the project private you restrict access to the project, requiring that users enter a private key.
Finally, we have the planholder access section. You have three options:
- Hidden: the planholder list will not appear on the planroom site at all, only administrators will be able to access the information from the Control Center.
- Restricted: the planholder list will only appear for the assigned project customer. If you previously assigned, say, ACME Construction as the customer, then verified users for ACME Construction will automatically see the planholder list on the planroom, while it will remain hidden for everyone else.
- Available to all: anyone who can access the project will also be able to see the planholder list.
Now "Save" your project, and move to the next step where we will build out the project with a few more details.
